Organic Chemistry Model Kits for Science Courses

Science teacher, Jamie Bell, was able to purchase 8 Organic Chemistry Model Kits with 2020-21 teacher grant funds from Publix and Kroger donations for Walton’s Science courses. Educational Molecule modeling kit is designed for Easy Chemistry learning for organic, inorganic and functional groups. The Model Kit caters for beginner through to advanced science and chemistry learning and comes with an 8 Page Instructional Guide to easily identify all Atoms and Connectors. It’s a complete toolkit to help learn Organic Chemistry.

Hardware for Various Departments

The following hardware items were purchased with 2020-21 teacher grant funds from Publix and Kroger donations for Walton’s Science, Social Studies, and Physical Education courses.

A 27 inch BenQ monitor was purchased for the Science Department.
Two monitors along with cables, an HDMI splitter and a 4 port USB hub was purchased for the Social Studies Department.
3 Jet Pack 900L Hot Spots were purchased for the Physical Education Department.

Walton Green Team in Action

The newly formed Walton Green Team conducted their inaugural event on December 12, 2020. They collected and disposed of 17 bags of trash on the campuses of: Walton HS, Dodgen MS, Dickerson MS, and Eastside ES.

Walton Faculty and Staff Receive Holiday Cheer

The Walton PTSA and Foundation combine efforts to show their appreciation and thanks to the Walton Faculty and Staff by giving them a stocking full of goodies and a Target gift card.

The Walton Rebuild Story

As we celebrate being able to return to the Walton campus, we thought it would be a good time to reflect on how our new beautiful building came to be.

The students and staff of Walton High School are extremely fortunate to teach and learn in our beautiful school building that was provided through Cobb County SPLOST dollars.

Did you know that the school board initially planned to replace only the gyms and the theater?

Did you know that Walton’s Foundation played an important role in our getting our gorgeous new building?

The Foundation worked closely with Principal McNeill and Walton staff members to create a proposal to demonstrate the need for a whole new school building. The goal was a school building that matched the academic excellence of the Walton students.

The Foundation:

organized surveys to establish the needs
hired an architect
created a plan to demonstrate the need for a new school, and
presented this plan to the Cobb County School Board on April 30, 2015

The result of all of this work was that the Walton REBUILD became a part of SPLOST IV. The Foundation didn’t stop with the proposal. It also worked with groups throughout Cobb County to increase awareness of the SPLOST vote throughout our county to ensure that the vote was passed. The Walton High School Foundation prides itself on its flexibility to serve the needs of its students and community. This is another example of its dedication to its community.

The end result is that the Walton faculty, staff, and students are empowered to excel in our glorious $79.7 million dollar, 453,506 sq feet facility. Welcome back to campus!

Timeline:

Spring 2015 Construction began on the new $48 million dollar 302,506 sq ft academic building
Fall 2017 Academic building opens to students
Summer 2018 Construction began on the new $31.7 million dollar 151,000 sq ft performing arts building
Fall 2019 new performing arts building opens to students
